Telechron ‘Selector’ (Missing Case)
A useful clock, this Model 8H55 features an outlet on the rear that allowed the user to plug in a light or radio to automatically switch them on or off. The Selector was manufactured from 1943-1953 and approximately 123,309 were sold. Its details include a brown plastic case 5-1/4"w x 5-1/8" h with ribbed detail on the curved sides.
This ‘Selector’ clock may be missing its plastic case, but still attached to the back is the movement. This clock uses a standard Telechron type H rotor whose output shaft runs at 3.6 revolutions per minute. The rotor is housed in copper. The label on the copper reads:
H3 T TOP M2309
3.6 RPM 60CYC 145
Above the movement is a brass bracket featuring the old logo of the Electric Time Company.
Clock Dial with Type H Rotor
Shown in the picture are a bezel and a dial of a Telechron wall clock. Although the clock may be missing its case which makes it rather difficult to identify the model, the motor is still present on the back of the clock. The motor includes a type H rotor. Due to the aluminum housing, this type H rotor is most likely one of the more recent models made by Telechron. On the aluminum reads the label:
H-3 TOP M1313
3.6 RPM 60-C 96
This rotor’s output shaft spins at 3.6 revolutions per minute. The rotor is equipped with mounting feet for a secure fit.
